Civil Engineer jobs and vacancies are available across the UK. As a Civil engineers you will be involved with the design, development and construction of a huge range of projects in the built and natural environment, including the concept and detailed design of roads, highways, drainage and traffic management schemes. As with a Structural Engineer, there are also Technicians that provide technical assistance.
Within civil engineering, consulting engineers are the designers; contracting engineers turn their plans into reality. A consulting civil engineer is responsible for working with clients to plan, manage, design and supervise the construction of projects. You will work in a number of different settings and, with experience, can run projects as project manager. As a consulting civil engineer you may also monitor the quality of work and safety on site in conjunction with contracting engineers.
As a contracting Civil Engineer you work will involve turning the designer's plans into reality by building them. Contracting engineers ensure that all aspects of the construction project under their responsibility - from ground works and foundations to final finishes - are completed within cost and time constraints and to client specification.
