Traffic Engineer Jobs

Traffic engineer jobs and vacancies are available across the UK. As a Traffic Engineer you will work in both in the public and private sectors. You main function is to provide solutions to traffic related issues. This can range from arranging the instalment of Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ’s) to the detailed design of the road systems on a newly build housing estate.

Duties as a Traffic Engineer could include talking to the local people of an area about traffic issues, liaising with councillors and other stakeholders involved in a traffic management scheme, producing conceptual and detailed designs for new/improved traffic plans and supervising the contractors on site when the scheme is ready to be produced. Often, all these facets of the job will be included in a single project, taking it from the initial liaison stage through to the completion on site.

There are also areas of specialisation within Traffic Engineering. These include road safety, cycle-ways, bus lanes and CPZ design. Each of these specialised roles would require an engineer who has dedicated at least part of their career to this facet of traffic engineering.
