Quantity Surveyor Jobs

Quantity Surveyor jobs and vacancies available across the UK: Quantity Surveyor jobs are located within the construction industry, local government and in the property divisions of large organisations.  The main focus in Quantity Surveying jobs is to keep tab on the cost of the project - either for the company which is doing the work (contractor's quantity surveyor) or for the company which is having the work done (private quantity surveyor).

As a Quantity Surveyor you work could include organising the allocation of work to smaller, more specialised construction companies (known as subcontractors) according to best value, managing costs to ensure budget isn't exceeded, negotiating with the client's private quantity surveyor and arranging staff payments and at the end of the job settling the final account.

You may also work as a Private quantity surveyor and advise your clients on construction costs.
Work may include advising on the potential of a site and working out what a client can afford to build, presenting detailed information on the costs, helping to identify the most suitable contractors, acting as financial advisers, negotiating changes in price and advise the client on the cost of maintaining whatever has been built. You can work in this profession as either a quantity surveying technician or a chartered quantity surveyor.
