Housing Manager Jobs

Housing manager jobs and vacancies are available across the UK. A Housing manager work to develop, supply or manage housing and related services within social housing.  Local authorities and housing associations and other accommodation providers, including universities and property management companies often manage large numbers of housing properties and services.  As a Housing Manager you will be assigned an area and tasked with the main management functions.  A housing officer can be involved with specific groups, such as homeless or elderly people, students or people with disabilities, or you work may focus on planning and administrative procedures. Your duties can include, explaining tenancy agreements, ensuring empty (void) properties are suitable for inhabitation, reduction of rent arrears (where they occur), dealing with anti-social behaviour and mediating in cases of neighbour nuisance or racial harassment.

For many permanent housing manager jobs employers do still look for housing experience as a necessity to apply for housing jobs.  Previous experience in housing or a related customer-service field is likely to be a considerable advantage or essential for some posts.  Employers will usually state in recruitment advertisements the minimum level of experience that is necessary to apply.  As a housing manager you will need strong teamwork and organisational skills, be highly-motivated and able to motivate others, strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity, the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and have an interest in working with diverse social groups.
