Job description

Eden Brown is working in Partnership with a West Yorkshire based Housing Association are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager for 9 month contract, with the possibility of going permanent.
Suitable candidates must have a Building Surveying background and be familiar with planned and reactive Maintenance, Voids, Building Defects and monitoring site progress. The purpose of the post is to provide a customer focused repairs and maintenance service to the Associations clients.

Principal duties:

To provide day to day supervision to the Maintenance Officer and Project Support Officer providing guidance and support at the operational level for the delivery of services as appropriate to their roles to reinforce a culture of service excellence and deliver positive results making key decisions on operational issues, deploying resources, managing holidays and sickness and undertaking appraisals and one-to-ones in line with Group policies and procedures.

To undertake pre-inspections of responsive day-to-day repairs, identifying building defects, specify repairs and monitor progress of work on site. To undertake post-inspections of responsive day-to-day repairs, monitoring contractor performance and conducting formal contractor reviews to an agreed programme.

To ensure the timely inspection of properties on changes of tenancies, specifying and ordering repairs and the monitoring of progress and quality of work to ensure prompt reletting.

To develop, implement and deliver a maintenance and inspection programme for the management of the Association's tree management plan. To undertake post-inspections of Responsive Day-to-Day repairs at the request of the Maintenance Manager/Customers Services Team Leader/Housing Services Team Leader, recording and update computer based records of the standard of completed works.


A proven track record of working in a repairs and maintenance environment, of diagnosing and resolving building defects
A proven track record of working in a multi- agency setting, including, but not necessarily limited to, local authority and government department/agencies associated with housing, health and education and also voluntary/community based groups.
A proven track record of working with, supervising and directing the activities of external contractors in the delivery of repairs and maintenance service in a housing environment Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Internet Explorer
A proven track record of delivering a repairs and maintenance service in a front-line customer focused environment, gained in an housing environment
A proven track record of working within approved authority levels and financial constraints.
