Job description

Great long term opportunity to join the E London / Essex borough at a Project Manager within their parking team

About the position:

Assisting in effectively delivering Parking related projects following sound project management techniques to bring projects in on time and budget.


The Council is looking to bring in a project manager to assist the parking group with a number of projects such as a tariff change, a role out of new P&D machines and a new PBP supplier and other projects which may be required to be delivered.

An experienced Parking Project Manager is sought to help drive forward and deliver this programme.

Key Accountabilities and Result Areas

* Post holder will be expected to be able to work effectively with little direct supervision but will accountable to the Business Unit Manager for Highways Traffic & Parking and the Group Manager.

* To assist the Business Unit Manager and colleagues in the development of the service operationally within the priorities of the service area and the overall aims of the Council.

* Report progress on the tasks, schemes and programmes

* To support the team in the process for liaison with external statutory and community-based agencies and partners

. * Attend meetings on site (alone if necessary) and to provide guidance for clients, elected Members, business partners, external agencies, the private sector and other key stakeholders.

* Undertake other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Business Unit Manager, or Highways Group Manager.

Job Context:

* The postholder will be required to take responsibility of work being allocated to them by the Business Unit Manager or other management

* The postholder has no direct line management responsibility but will be expected to coordinate with colleagues to perform the following;

* When operating as a team leader supervise and liaise with other team members.

* The postholder will not have any financial responsibility but must be able to price work based on the schedule of rates

* The postholder will need to hold a full UK Driving Licence Working conditions/circumstances

* The postholder will occasionally be required to work outside 'normal' office hours, and as required by the line manager, may include monitoring works, attending Council and community meetings.

* The postholder will be required to work in a variety of weather conditions to complete works as necessary


* Experience of delivering Parking Projects in a local government environment

* Experience of reporting using a variety of software tools

* To have knowledge and experience of working within current Highway and Health and Safety legislation. *

* Experience of financial planning and budgetary control

* Experience of writing reports, correspondence, briefing notes giving operational, technical, policy or strategic information Qualifications

* To have a recognised qualification in Parking or Highway Engineering (or similar) or acceptable proven technical ability.
