Our client a Large local authority is a progressive and dynamic authority with a large and varied property portfolio. Maintenance and Contracts, invites you to join their team as Senior Maintenance Manager, providing support to the Operations Manager and Principal Contracts Manager.

Main Duties to effectively and efficiently manage part of the Housing Repairs Service within Service Area strategy and objectives, reporting directly to the Principal Contracts Manager.

To operationally manage all housing repairs works, to ensure both an efficient service delivered within all agreed cost, performance and quality targets to customer's satisfaction.

Works can include responsive repairs, void property repairs, electrical rewires and maintenance, installation of disabled adaptations and other planned repair and maintenance work.
Ensure all work completed to all associated legal, statutory, health & safety and quality standards appropriate to the area of work responsible for.
Effectively utilise employees, vehicles, plant and equipment, using mobile technology, ensuring cost effectiveness at all times. Ensure all policies and procedures are always reviewed and updated and followed by staff.

Manage health and safety within area of responsibility maintaining health, safety and welfare of employees, subcontractors and members of the public ensuring that employees are trained in and adhere to safe working and lone-working practices and adhere to environmental procedures.
Where cost-effective, utilise and manage subcontract labour to meet peaks and troughs of workload.
Record and report on performance against all targets and on variations and estimated costs.

About You


Essential A Degree or an NVQ level 6 in a managerial or professional / technical field
Desirable Working towards a degree or professional qualification in a managerial or professional / technical field.
Experience / skills Essential
3 year's experience in the construction industry or a similar role,
Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications
Experience in a commercial contracting environment
Customer care awareness
Desirable Experience in people management.
Specialist knowledge Essential
Health and Safety (The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Managing Safely qualification)
Relevant and up to date knowledge of construction / building technology
Demonstrate attention to detail, ability to interpret and implement specifications
Ability to apply understanding of contract requirements to ensure works completed in most cost-effective way

A National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) qualification
Initiate and develop Construction (Design and Management) plans
