Are you a building performance expert ready to lead on some of the UK's most exciting low-energy projects? One of the UK's top multidisciplinary consultancies is looking for a Senior-Principal Building Physics Engineer to lead the delivery of Design for Performance (DfP) and NABERS UK modelling, with strong experience using Apache HVAC within IES-VE.

This is a rare opportunity to take a technical leadership role within a nationally recognised team delivering Net Zero strategies and operational energy modelling at the highest level.

The Role
* Lead on DfP and NABERS UK performance modelling across a wide portfolio of commercial and mixed-use developments
* Deliver detailed simulations using Apache HVAC in IES-VE to support operational energy assessments
* Coordinate with internal design teams, external consultants, and architects to influence design from early stage
* Develop and manage robust energy strategies that align with Net Zero Carbon and ESG frameworks
* Support certification processes and engagement with Independent Design Review (IDR) panels
* Mentor junior team members and contribute to service innovation and thought leadership

About You
* Strong experience with IES-VE, specifically Apache HVAC for operational energy modelling
* Proven experience delivering NABERS UK and DfP models to industry benchmarks
* In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Part L, TM54, and energy compliance pathways
* Excellent communicator, confident engaging with design teams, developers, and certifiers
* Experience leading projects and supporting business development is a plus
* Passionate about driving down operational energy use and promoting performance-led design

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Principal Passivhaus Consultant to help grow and lead a specialist service within a national consultancy known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and strong sustainability credentials.

The Opportunity:
You'll be a subject matter expert in Passivhaus and EnerPHit methodologies, responsible for leading design advice and certification strategies on both residential and non-residential projects. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and the chance to shape how Passivhaus principles are integrated into major UK developments.

What You'll Be Doing:
* Leading the delivery of Passivhaus and EnerPHit projects from concept to certification
* Advising clients, architects, and design teams on fabric-first, low-energy design strategies
* Coordinating PHPP modelling, thermal bridging, airtightness, and MVHR design inputs
* Managing and reviewing submissions for Passivhaus certification
* Supporting the wider sustainability team on Net Zero Carbon and Whole Life Carbon strategies
* Representing the business at design team meetings and industry events
* Mentoring junior team members and contributing to thought leadership

About You:
* Certified Passivhaus Designer or Consultant, with several projects delivered to certification
* Strong working knowledge of PHPP, thermal bridge analysis (e.g., THERM), and airtightness detailing
* Experience engaging with architects and clients to influence low-energy design
* Ability to lead projects independently and contribute to business development
* Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for sustainable, high-performance buildings
