A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer at Associate Director level to take on a leadership role in a multidisciplinary MEP team delivering high-impact projects across the UK and beyond.
About the Role:
You'll step into a joint leadership position within a highly skilled MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) team. Your focus will be on guiding project delivery, offering technical and design advice, and supporting the success of projects from concept through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading projects across your discipline, as well as multidisciplinary teams.
* Acting as technical lead and design reviewer across a range of project types.
* Supporting bids and client engagement - demonstrating where your expertise has contributed to winning work or delivering successful outcomes.
* Supervising the development of detailed designs and specifications.
* Directing feasibility studies and coordinating input across disciplines.
* Ensuring resources are planned and aligned with project timelines and complexity.
Your Experience:
My client is looking for someone with a strong background in building services and a proven track record in electrical design, including:
* Extensive UK project experience within Building Services MEP.
* Strong technical knowledge of relevant UK and European standards.
* Proficiency in electrical design tools and software, including AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and cable/light calculations (both manual and software-based).
* Expertise in areas such as low voltage systems, UPS, lighting, small power, fire alarms, data cabling, access control, and lightning protection.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to sketch and convey technical details effectively.
Qualifications & Accreditation:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (BEng/BSc/MEng).
* Working toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (IEng or CEng).
* Relevant training and experience in RevitMEP is highly desirable.
The Team & Environment:
You'll be based in the Cambridge office, a short walk from the train station and city centre. You'll work with a close-knit team of 25 MEP professionals, part of a national group of nearly 400 engineers. Role and Responsibilities: As an Associate Electrical Design Engineer, you will:
* Lead the design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems, ensuring compliance with project briefs and industry standards.

* Utilize BIM processes and design software such as Revit and Amtech to produce detailed design documentation.
* Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
* Lead in client meetings and site visits, providing technical expertise and ensuring project milestones are met.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree and/or Masters qualified in electrical engineering or building services engineering.
* Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer, with a track record in the UK leading electrical (and ideally M&E) delivery on a variety of mainstream building services projects.
* Sound knowledge of BIM processes, Revit, and Amtech, with demonstrable experience working with architects in a design-centered role.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* THIS ROLE REQUIRES SC CLERENCE - Able to get this is essential for the position due to the projects they work on in the Defence sector.
