Job description

Our client is a UK leading Construction and Property business, with operations throughout the UK. An excellent opportunity has arisen at their Birmingham office for a Design Manager to join their busy pre-construction team.

The Role

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing all design aspects from tender stage through to completion you will be expected to work effectively as an integral member of the bid and construction delivery team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Midlands region and will work in a busy and vibrant team led by a Project Manager and be responsible for leading the development of all design disciplines.

Education, Skills and Experience:-

- Construction related degree qualification or equivalent and CIOB or equivalent is preferable
- A wide and varied experience of the construction process through concept and detailed design to practical construction phase and handover. An understanding of the planning and technical skills necessary to undertake the role.
- Good commercial understanding of contracts, procurement routes and risk management.
- An excellent understanding of 3D design and BIM, with a desire to drive improvements and benefits through embracing digital construction.
- Good collaboratively planning skills
- Enthusiastic team player, able to listen, understand, engage and motivate, possess confidence to make decisions when required
- Strong leadership and management skills, with a positive and collaborative approach
- Excellent communication skills, both at the personal level and more formal reporting level
- Possess the desire to constantly learn, improve and share knowledge and experience
