Job description

Role purpose

To project manage key grant funded partnership projects to accelerate carbon emissions reductions and air quality improvement by working with other teams in the council and with partners. In particular the Go Ultra Low On-street Residential Charging Scheme and the Go Ultra Low Taxi Scheme

To drive continuous service improvement within designated area of responsibility, challenging existing practice and actively seeking ways of achieving greater outcomes.

Develop and maintain effective partnerships with key internal and external partners in line with service objectives

The portfolio of capital projects that the role will deliver will change over time depending on the need of the organisation. The portfolio is currently focused on electric vehicle charging infrastructure delivery which is an innovating sector. It requires both the immediate delivery of third party funded capital and revenue projects and strategic work to establish how the Council will manage this infrastructure in the long term and to plan for transitioning to that future model (e.g. working with the Council's arms length companies to explore what their role may be).

Programme and project management of electric vehicle infrastructure delivery

Essential Criteria

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience relevant to the role portfolio and/or a professional qualification in project management, such as PRINCE2, or working towards

Experience of delivering a concurrent portfolio of complex projects., demonstrating familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle

Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge

Demonstrable experience of effective budget management
Experience and understanding of local government processes including gateway processes for capital projects, public sector procurement rules and/or project governance requirements
