Job description

One of the UKs leading construction and FM contractors are looking to add to their experienced commercial team.

They are looking to add an ambitious Senior QS ideally with experience in the construction and FM sectors.

Projects that you would be working on would be mainly Education and Local Authority

This is a full time position.

Summary of Role:
Reporting to the Sector Procurement Manager, responsible for:
- Building and developing a successful working relationship with Project Teams within the Sector to ensure subcontracts are procured in an efficient manner with capable organisations in accordance with the companies Procurement, Health & Safety, Environment and Quality Policies and procedures.
- Procurement of work packages within the Sector ranging from £50,000 to £500,000.
- Ensuring that the procurement aspects of the project are fully understood by the project team and embedded in the operation of the project.
- Pursuing own professional development.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Carry out subcontract procurement in line with the procurement timetable and in accordance with company procurement policy and processes.
- High level of understanding and working knowledge of project procurement start up procedures.
- Develop, agree and implement a supply chain strategy with project teams for the successful and efficient procurement of subcontract packages both during mobilisation and the lifecycle of a project.
- Prepare procurement schedule ensuring the project team contribute and complete their relevant sections.
- Prepare subcontract invitations to tender and evaluate tender returns (time, cost, quality) and make recommendations to appoint and place subcontracts, in accordance with the procurement process.
- Carry out gap analysis between packages to ensure full and complete subcontract procurement.
- Build and develop successful partnerships with the Supply Chain partners.
- Work with their Supply Chain to promote and measure continuous improvement in terms of cost, quality and learning of all parties.
- Have a clear understanding of the contract applicable to the project on which you are working and the risks and opportunities that this presents.
- Identify, manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
- Demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness of their services to create the best value solution for their clients and the company as a whole.
- Ensure that the commercial position is protected using in depth understanding and experience of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.
- Maintain a good understanding of Employment Law concerning TUPE and pension obligations.

Qualifications: Degree required
Professional Membership: MRICS Membership desired
Relevant Experience: QS background with extensive experience in procuring FM and construction related activities
