Job description

Great opportunity to work with this busy and thriving central west London borough withing their building services team responsible for providing professional and comprehensive mechanical engineering services to ensure the delivery of maintenance and refurbishment projects by contractors.

Outline of role:

To project manage revenue and capital schemes to ensure contractor compliance with contract terms and conditions, professional codes of practice and regulations when undertaking mechanical repairs and improvement works.
for the provision of mechanical technical services, advice, feasibility and maintenance support on mechanical engineering matters.

- Attend site meetings and inspect works to ensure mechanical maintenance and repair services, provided by contractors, comply with the terms of the contract and are undertaken in a proper and professional manner as defined by the appropriate professional codes of practice, health and safety and CDM regulations
- Provide professional and technical advice and reports on all matters within the functionality of the service.
- To oversee programmes of work, undertaking quality assurance inspections during the contract, acting as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, resolving complex issues and disputes with contractors.
- Undertake detailed investigations, make site visits, carry our surveys, diagnose faults and specify remedial actions giving clear oral and written instructions to contractor's operatives where required.
- Scrutinise content of mechanical certification received from contractors. Maintain comprehensive records of certification. Authorise urgent works and collate recommendations for improvements for consideration in planning planned maintenance works.
- Prepare test installations in accordance with current regulatory standards. On completion of each project, supervise final testing and commissioning of the works in compliance with current standards.
- Maintain and improve standards of mechanical engineering services design and refurbishment work


Minimum of NVQ level 1+2 in mechanical installation with a BTEC Higher Certificate and Diploma in mechanical engineering / building services or HNC / HND
