They are looking to hire a Civil Protection and Business Continuity Manager to be a key part of their response planning function
They are a borough with rich diversity and cultural heritage. At the same time there are undeniable problems - linked in part to poverty and deprivation. Levels of crime, violence and ASB are too high - with domestic abuse and knife crime a particular problem.
The Role
The Civil Contingencies and Business Continuity Manager has the responsibility to ensure the effective management of the Council's Civil Protection and business continuity arrangements through the preparation, implementation and co-ordination of the Council's Emergency Civil Protection Procedure and business continuity plans.
Leading a small team of officers you will provide a comprehensive advisory, training and exercising service for Emergency Planning and Business Continuity to elected members, Chief Officers, and all council responders.
This is an exciting opportunity to operate at a strategic level with the introduction of the new Resilience Standards for London. You will lead their introduction and integration across all Directorates of the council.
The role includes providing a 24/7 operational response to incidents. You will be required to attend incidents in circumstances where you will be the lead officer to co-ordinate the council's response.
This will be a challenging role as demands on the Civil Protection Unit and expectations of the community, partners and elected members are high.
Your profile
An experienced team leader and manager, you will have expert knowledge and understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, specifically the role of the local authority as a first responder. You will have experience of managing threat and risk and decision making in high pressure scenarios including responding to a range of incidents. Your excellent communication skills enable you to build and maintain effective relationships with partner organisations and you can produce high quality reports and policy responses for senior level committees and external bodies. A proven leader, you have a track record of delivering results with your team.
