A highly respected workplace design and build specialist is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team in London.

The Role:
Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from tender and procurement through to final account.

Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the commercial management of multiple fit out and refurbishment projectsSupporting the preparation of cost plans, budgets and tender submissionsProcuring subcontractor packages and analysing quotationsAssisting with contract administration and document managementPreparing applications for payment and client valuationsMonitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunitiesAssessing and managing variations throughout the project lifecycleSupporting monthly CVR reporting and forecasting activitiesManaging subcontractor accounts and payment processesAssisting with final account negotiations and project close-outCandidate Requirements
Degree qualified or studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction disciplinePrevious experience within a Quantity Surveying, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Assistant roleExperience within fit out, refurbishment or construction projects would be advantageousStrong commercial awareness and attention to detailExcellent numerical, analytical and organisational skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial softwareStrong communication skills with a collaborative approachAmbitious, driven and eager to progress within a commercial careerWhat's on Offer

An established and fast-growing commercial interiors contractor is seeking a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team based on Gloucester Road. With a strong pipeline of fit-out and refurbishment projects across multiple sectors, this role offers excellent exposure, structured development, and clear progression within a supportive commercial team.
This position is ideal for someone early in their QS career who is looking to gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.
The Role Overview
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of interior fit-out projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will be involved in cost planning, procurement, subcontract management, and financial reporting while developing a strong understanding of commercial controls and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction & Procurement
Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender returnsReview drawings, specifications, and project documentation to support pricing activitiesObtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure best valueSupport procurement processes, including preparing enquiries and negotiating packagesProject Delivery & Cost Control
Assist in preparing and submitting interim valuations and applications for paymentMonitor project costs, track budgets, and highlight any commercial risks or variancesSupport the management and valuation of variations, change orders, and contract adjustmentsMaintain cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial records for live projectsSubcontractor Management
Assist with subcontractor appointment processes and documentationMonitor subcontractor performance and support the agreement of interim and final accountsEnsure packages are commercially managed in line with contract termsReporting & Administration
Keep accurate and up-to-date project records and documentationSupport senior surveyors with financial reporting and commercial updatesAssist in producing cost/value reconciliation (CVR) reportsTeam Collaboration
Work closely with project managers, site teams, and design teamsParticipate in project meetings and contribute to commercial decision-makingBuild strong internal and external relationshipsCandidate Requirements
Degree-qualified or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related disciplinePrevious experience in a construction, interiors, or fit-out environment (placement or full-time)Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of construction processesExcellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsConfident communicator with good negotiation abilitiesProficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasksProactive, driven, and eager to learn and progressDesirable Experience
Exposure to commercial interiors, CAT A / CAT B fit-out projects is idealFamiliarity with standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT)Experience assisting with valuations, variations, or procurementWhat's on Offer
