Associate Director - Building Physics & Sustainability
Up to £95k
London

Are you ready to take ownership of a fast-growing sustainability and building physics function? A forward-thinking building services consultancy is looking for a highly experienced Associate Director to take a leading role in the delivery and growth of their building performance offering from their London office.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced professional to step into a strategic leadership position-owning client relationships, delivering technical excellence, growing a team, and shaping the future direction of the sustainability function. In the medium term, there is a clear path to owning your own P&L and leading a dedicated performance engineering unit within the business.

The Opportunity
As Associate Director, you will act as the face of building performance and sustainability, leading the technical delivery of complex projects and working directly with developers, architects, and institutional investors. You will also be responsible for growing and mentoring a new team, driving innovation, and positioning the business as a leader in Net Zero and energy performance strategies.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead delivery of advanced building physics modelling, including TM54, TM59, TM52, Part L/O, and operational energy strategies
* Own and develop key client relationships and act as a senior technical advisor
* Oversee and guide the use of tools such as IES-VE, ApacheSim, and Apache HVAC
* Contribute to and review carbon assessments, compliance modelling, and Net Zero strategies
* Lead recruitment, training, and management of a growing team of performance engineers
* Represent the business externally, contributing to industry forums (e.g. UKGBC, LETI, CIBSE)
* Work closely with senior leadership to shape the service line and move towards P&L ownership

About You
* 10+ years' experience in building physics, building performance, or sustainability consultancy
* Track record of delivering and managing technically complex projects and multidisciplinary teams
* Expert user of IES-VE (especially Apache HVAC), with in-depth understanding of UK building compliance
* Strong commercial awareness, able to identify opportunities and drive growth
* Confident, credible and articulate in front of clients, design teams, and executive stakeholders
* Ambitious, entrepreneurial, and ready to lead a high-impact business unit

Why Join?
* Lead and shape a growing team in one of the UK's most progressive consultancies
* Deliver industry-leading building performance and Net Zero projects
* Build a business unit with autonomy and a pathway to P&L responsibility
* Enjoy a flexible, collaborative culture that supports personal and professional growth
* Competitive salary, bonus, hybrid working, CPD support, and a clear path to Director
