Energy & Sustainability Consultant
London (Hybrid Working)
Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Would you like to be part of a leading building services engineering consultancy with a proud track record of delivering innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient design solutions across the UK and internationally? Working across a diverse portfolio of sectors - including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare - they partner with clients to create buildings that perform efficiently and meet the highest sustainability standards.

They are now on the lookout for a motivated Energy & Sustainability Consultant to join their London team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded and environmentally driven professional to develop their expertise in a collaborative, forward-thinking consultancy.

Role Overview
As an Energy & Sustainability Consultant, you will play an integral role in supporting their Senior Sustainability Engineers in delivering environmentally responsible and compliant building design solutions. You will gain hands-on experience in building performance analysis, energy modelling, and sustainability reporting - contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile projects from concept through to planning and detailed design.

Key Responsibilities
* Conduct dynamic simulation modelling using IES VE for building physics and energy performance analysis.
* Support Part L compliance assessments, dynamic thermal modelling, and TM54 operational energy studies.
* Assist with daylight, overheating, and thermal comfort analysis to inform design development.
* Contribute to Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and embodied carbon analysis.
* Prepare Energy and Sustainability Statements for planning submissions and GLA (London Plan) compliance.
* Participate in BREEAM-related studies and reporting where applicable.
* Shadow senior consultants in client meetings - taking notes, assisting with documentation, and supporting project coordination.
* Maintain clear document control and reporting in line with company standards.
* Stay up to date with evolving sustainability regulations, including Part L, TM54, and London Plan policies.

Requirements
* Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Architecture, or a related discipline.
* Strong technical understanding of building physics, energy modelling, and sustainability principles.
* Familiarity with IES VE (preferred) or similar dynamic simulation tools.
* Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and sustainability standards (e.g. BREEAM, London Plan).
* Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate technical findings clearly.
* Self-motivated with a genuine passion for sustainability and the built environment.
* Willingness to learn and develop within a supportive and professional team environment.

Benefits
* Competitive salary up to £42,000 (dependant on experience).
* Hybrid working and flexible hours to promote work-life balance.
* Structured career development and mentoring from experienced sustainability engineers.
* Opportunities for professional training and CPD, including IES VE accreditation and chartership support.
* Collaborative working environment within a respected, multi-disciplinary consultancy.
* Exposure to a wide range of sustainable building design projects across the UK and internationally.
