Our client is delivering a landmark infrastructure project with HS2. With over 50 ecologists, including species and botanical specialists, and support from the wider Natural Capital team, this is the largest ecological project in Europe.
They are seeking an experienced ecologist to take a leadership role in the design delivery team-guiding ecological design, ensuring biodiversity is protected and enhanced, and driving the project towards its No Net Loss goal. This involves embedding ecological mitigation into civil engineering and landscape design, while meeting HS2 standards, legal requirements, and industry best practice.
The role will bring inspiration, innovation, and technical expertise to the Natural Capital team. Responsibilities include producing high-quality ecological reports, managing protected species mitigation from design through monitoring, and ensuring habitat creation and enhancement measures are implemented and adapted based on real-world outcomes.
Key priorities include safeguarding existing habitats, assuring quality across contractor work, and managing ecological work packages to keep construction and mitigation aligned. When challenges arise, the successful candidate will help deliver practical solutions to keep the HS2 Green Corridor on track.
The right candidate will be a qualified ecologist, have experience on HS2 or a similar mega-project, preferable a CIEEM member, and will be an outstanding communicator and Team Player.
You will ideally be in a Principal role, or will be a Senior with management responsibility looking to develop.
In exchange, you will play a huge part in protecting the environment on a once-in-a-career project, settled into a welcoming, high-performing team, at a business absolutely at the top of their game.
