Role overview
General
Build good relations with client and project teamEnsure all aspects of the build process are satisfactorily completed on time, within budget and to the highest possible standardCarry out perfect delivery and produce snag free jobsBe able to run multiple contract at a time at varying stagesLiaise with internal teams and external teams ie construction teams, landlords and clientsManagement of the site teamsOversee all aspects of build process and monitor build quality on siteCo-ordinate contractors and designers, bearing in mind specification and costsHave a clear understanding of standard work practices / relevant BS standards and codes
Health & Safety
Maintain perfect site set up standards at all timesEnsure compliance with all statutory Health & Safety requirements in conjunction with the Group Health & Safety Manager
Financial
Procurement of all trade packages to ensure most cost effective solutionBudget control on contractValuationsVariations - prepare, issue and agree variation orders for client sign-offMonitoring project cash flow forecasts; maintaining positive cash flow on every projectCost reporting - issuing full financial statements to clients on a weekly basisImproving the gross profit on the contract and reporting GP updates to DirectorsControlling the debtors and chasing payments in advance of due dateMitigating overspendsEnsuring final account is agreed at practical completion
Administration/ Legal
Organise, chair and minute sub-contractor and client meetingsCoordinate O&M documentation and certifications in conjunction with Contracts SecretaryUnderstand standard contract terms, JCT, etc, and the provisions made within a contractDeal with defects at end of the defects / liability periodEnsure PC Cert is issued and filed on the system at end of job
Skills/experience required:
A relevant degree5+ years' experience of being a project managerAbility to work to tight deadlines; excellent time management skillsStrong track record of office interior construction experienceStrong attention to detail, the ability to prioritise workloads, work under pressure and to your own initiativeAbility to communicate and work effectively with colleagues and clientsAbility to use MS Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360 and Projects

We are collaborating with a Consultancy who are currently seeking an experienced consultant with in-depth understanding of public sector estates planning and preferably in the health or life sciences arena. The Senior Technical Project Manager is a new role within the Strategy in Life Sciences Service Line (SLS), reporting to the Strategy in Life Sciences Director and will be part of a small team. This role would be suited to a candidate who has a demonstrable background in Architecture, Estates development, Project Management or Masterplanning.
This full-time role will be working in a government department's Science Estate Planning Function to support strategic development and management of the client's estate. The role requires a minimum of three days per week at a major government life sciences site based in Surrey, with occasional travel to other UK sites.
