We are partnering with a leading UK consultancy that is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Sustainability Consultant based in South Africa to support its UK team on a fully remote freelance basis

This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong sustainability professional with expertise in building physics, IES modelling, overheating analysis, and energy performance assessments. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical analysis and modelling support across a diverse portfolio of UK projects.

Working closely with the UK-based sustainability team, you will contribute to the delivery of both retrofit and new-build developments, helping to create sustainable, energy-efficient, and high-performing buildings.

The Role

As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will provide hands-on technical support to the UK sustainability and building performance team. The position is focused on the delivery of detailed modelling, analysis, and reporting rather than strategic leadership.

You will be responsible for producing accurate building performance models, carrying out thermal and energy assessments, and providing practical design recommendations to optimise building performance across live projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and produce IES VE models for a range of UK building projects.
* Undertake overheating and thermal comfort assessments, including TM59 and Part O
compliance where required.
* Support Part L assessments and broader building energy performance analysis.
* Assist in the preparation of Energy Strategy Reports and other sustainability-related
documentation.
* Review building designs and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, occupant
comfort, and overall building performance.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and sustainability specialists as part of multidisciplinary
UK project teams.
* Attend remote design and coordination meetings, providing clear and informed technical input.
* Produce accurate modelling outputs and concise technical reports for review by the UK team.
* Contribute to both retrofit and new-build projects across a variety of sectors.

Skills & Experience

Applicants are not expected to meet every requirement, and additional training and support can be provided.

* Proven experience in building physics and IES VE modelling.
* Experience undertaking overheating, thermal comfort, and energy performance assessments.
* Strong understanding of UK building regulations and sustainability standards, particularly Part
L, Part O, and TM59.
* Experience contributing to Energy Strategy Reports or similar sustainability documentation.
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining effective
communication with UK-based teams.
* Previous experience working on UK building projects would be advantageous, but is not
essential.
* Knowledge of SAP, SBEM, or Elmhurst software would be beneficial, although candidates with
strong IES and building physics expertise will also be considered.

Whats on Offer?

* Long-term freelance engagement.
* Fully remote working from South Africa.
* Opportunity to work on a wide range of UK building projects.
* A technically focused role centred on building physics and performance modelling.
* Exposure to both retrofit and new-build developments.
* Supportive and collaborative UK team environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Physics or Sustainability Consultant based in South Africa who is looking to work on UK projects remotely while continuing to develop their expertise in technical modelling and sustainable building design.

Eden Brown is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.

* Prepare clear, accurate reports and modelling outputs for review by the UK team.
* Support both retrofit and new-build projects across a range of sectors.

* Long-term freelance opportunity.
* Fully remote working from South Africa.
* Opportunity to work on UK building design projects.
* Technical delivery role focused on building physics and modelling.
* Exposure to retrofit and new-build developments.
* Supportive UK team environment.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Building Physics or Sustainability Consultant in South Africa who wants to support UK projects remotely while focusing on hands-on technical modelling and analysis.
