Job description

THE COMPANY

The client would like to add to their Major Projects Division with an M&E Site Supervisor to work with them on a permanent basis. The work involves predominantly M&E Installation to a key site based in Leeds. The work is on-going so if you are West Yorkshire based and would like to stay local, this is the ideal position.

PURPOSE & CONTEXT OF THE ROLE

Typically this post holder reports to the M&E Project Manager and takes responsibility for the management of a team of M&E Engineers. This would include ensuring technical competence, completing all daily and weekly returns, coordination and deployment, management of health and safety and compliance with environmental standards etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre starts
-Requests / Reviews all Subcontractor RAMS
-Reviews / understands requirements, specification and drawings of schemes.
-Carry out visits to site prior to site set up to assess, understand and record site conditions.

M&E site set up
-Ensures that sites are set in full compliance with Brand guidelines.
-Ensures that all site set ups are fit for purpose, compliant with all current legislation and portray the expected company image
-Ensures that sites are set up in line with Site Manager Audit check list.
-Completes and tailor's all applicable company RAMS and COSHH documentation.

Inductions
-Ensures that mechanical operatives / subcontractors / clients receive appropriate relevant site induction prior to commencing / entering site.
-Ensures that records of all persons receiving induction are produced and updated accordingly
-Ensures and records that all persons entering site have all relevant PPE which complies with company uniform guidelines.
-In line with company policy ensures that all persons entering or permanently site based are in possession of a company photo ID card, and wherever not ensures that they are issued firstly with a temporary ID card and then ensures that company photo ID card is ordered and issued at the earliest opportunity.

Programme
-Responsible for the adherence to the plan, specification and programme of works
-Plan activities and agree work methods to achieve objectives
-Actively reviews works programme and implements change to achieve / better end of day targets.
-Aware of cost and managing delegated budgets, working closely with QS to optimise the profitability of projects
-Actively reviews and updates the Construction planner
-Ensuring operatives undertake and complete their works within targeted allowances - be that a financial or progress/programme measurement (e.g. tender outputs). This includes setting of targets with the Contract Manager or commercial team.

Documentation
-Collection and approval of all compliance documentation i.e. gas / electrical certificates.
-Populate, issue and manage all company permits to work.
-Populate, implement and complete all relevant H&S documentation.
-Takes action to ensure all relevant documentation is gathered and submitted to client to achieve handover of works.


Inspections
-As per company process actively carries out and documents all M&E relevant inspections.
-Actively monitors and takes immediate action to achieve the required quality of all work carried out on the site whether undertaken by M&E operatives or contractors.

Customer Care
-Populate and ensure consistent use of the Site Issues Log
-Works with Customer care team to ensure our customer expectations are met and delivered.
-Liaise on a day-to-day basis with clients and/or their representatives to resolve immediate issues, ensuring their needs at achieved and maintaining a professional approach.
Reports
-Actively reviews and updates the Construction planner
-Populates and submits weekly progress report within agreed time scales
-Demonstrates compliance with company near miss and enforcement authority reporting.

Technical advice
-Provides support and advice to the operational delivery and compliance teams as and when required.

Completion
-Takes a proactive route to ensure that at completion of mechanical contracts all surplus materials and plant are returned to logistics center/ supplier and all storage areas returned to original condition.
-Follows company archive procedure to safe guard all relevant documentation for future reference.
-Proactively works to ensure that all documentation is gathered and provided to contract managers/ aftercare team to enable production of H&S and O&M files

Essential Experience and Skills
-Previous supervisor experience
-Vast diverse M&E experience
-Vast experience in all aspects of M&E works including social housing
-Understanding of construction methods and techniques
-QA - Assurance and regulation
-Knowledge of gas safe regulations
-Competent IT skills
-Presentation skills
-Excellent attention to detail
-Strong organisation skills
-Ability to use own initiative
-Knowledge of refurbishment contracts.
