A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing Building Services team in London.

You'll work on a diverse range of projects across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, science & technology and public sector developments, collaborating closely with architects, sustainability consultants and other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality, low-carbon designs.

The Role
As a Senior or Principal Engineer, you'll take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, acting as a key technical lead and trusted advisor to clients.

Responsibilities will include:

Leading the electrical design and delivery of projects across multiple sectorsDeveloping innovative, low-energy building services solutionsManaging client relationships and attending design team meetingsCoordinating with internal disciplines and external stakeholdersMentoring and supporting junior engineersContributing to project planning, resourcing and technical quality assuranceSupporting business development and helping secure future work


About You

You'll have experience within a building services consultancy environment and be comfortable taking responsibility for project delivery and client engagement.

Ideally, you'll have:

Experience designing electrical building services systems across a range of sectorsStrong technical knowledge and understanding of current regulations and industry standardsExperience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teamsExcellent communication and client-facing skillsA proactive approach and desire to contribute to the growth of a team


For Principal-level candidates, experience leading teams, developing client relationships and supporting work-winning activities would be highly advantageous.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established team delivering innovative and sustainable building services solutions.

You'll be involved in projects from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver high-quality, low-carbon engineering solutions.

For those operating at Principal level, the role offers additional responsibility around project leadership, client management and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems across a range of projects
* Develop innovative and energy-efficient HVAC, heating, cooling and public health solutions
* Produce and review design calculations, specifications and technical reports
* Coordinate with electrical, sustainability and structural teams to deliver integrated design solutions
* Attend client, contractor and design team meetings
* Undertake site visits and provide technical support during construction
* Manage project programmes, resources and deliverables
* Mentor and support junior engineers

About You

* Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
* Experience working within a building services consultancy environment
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating, cooling and building services design
* Proficiency with industry-standard design software
* Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance
* Strong communication and client-facing skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders

Desirable

* Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of fast-paced property investment programmes for major retail, FMCG and corporate clients across the UK. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects ranging from refurbishment and asset renewal programmes through to new fit-outs, relocations, extensions and strategic investment initiatives.

Working as part of a nationally established project management team, you will take ownership of several concurrent projects with values ranging from £100k to £20m, overseeing delivery from inception through to completion while engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
