About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced sustainability professional to lead and grow an established Sustainability team within a highly respected multidisciplinary construction and property consultancy.

This is a senior leadership position for an individual who is passionate about driving sustainable design, environmental performance and decarbonisation strategies across the built environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the sustainability function, leading a team of specialists while influencing major projects across a diverse range of sectors. This position will be responsible for overseeing building physics, sustainability consultancy and environmental performance services whilst driving innovation and commercial growth.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for setting the strategic vision and direction of the sustainability offering, ensuring the delivery of commercially successful and technically excellent services to clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading and managing a small sustainability team, providing strategic direction, mentoring and professional development.Driving the growth of sustainability and building performance services.Acting as the senior technical authority across sustainability disciplines.Delivering high-quality sustainability consultancy and building physics services.Advising clients on environmental performance, energy efficiency, net zero carbon and decarbonisation strategies.Developing and maintaining strong client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor.Leading business development activities, including networking, tender submissions and fee proposals.Managing team performance, resource allocation and project delivery.Monitoring financial performance, profitability and operational efficiency.Driving innovation, technical excellence and continuous improvement across the business.Representing the company at industry events, conferences and professional forums.

About You

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong track record in leadership, sustainability consultancy and business development within the built environment sector.

You will ideally possess:

A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, building services engineering or a related discipline.Membership of a recognised professional body such as CIBSE or equivalent.Approximately 8-10+ years' industry experience with a recognised reputation within the sustainability sector.Extensive knowledge of building physics, sustainable building design and environmental assessment methodologies.Strong understanding of sustainability legislation, industry standards and Building Regulations.Experience developing sustainability strategies for both new-build and existing assets.Strong commercial awareness and financial management experience.Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop high-performing teams.Experience building and maintaining senior-level client relationships.Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Candidates with experience or qualifications in the following areas will be viewed favourably:
