The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and coordination of building services systems on large-scale, complex projects. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and internationally, ensuring quality and innovation in every aspect of your work.
Key responsibilities
-Lead the mechanical design of building services systems for major developments.
-Coordinate with structural, electrical, and architectural teams across regions.
-Oversee and review detailed design documentation and reports.
-Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development.
-Engage in design reviews and quality assurance processes.
-Work closely with UK project leads to deliver designs in line with client expectations and timelines.
What you'll bring
-Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
-10+ years' experience in building services design (consultancy background preferred).
-International, or Middle Eastern project experience is a plus.
-Proficiency in design tools such as Revit, IES, or similar.
-Excellent communication and coordination skills.
-Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.

About the Role
We're looking for a Principal Pipeline Engineer to join a growing Energy Transition Team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of mechanical and pipeline designs across a wide range of transmission projects, including:
* Natural gas (below and above 7 bar)
* Hydrogen transmission
* Carbon dioxide pipelines
* Wider low-carbon and energy transition infrastructure
You'll work as part of a large multidisciplinary engineering group, contributing to projects from early inception through development, construction, operation and decommissioning. Our team supports clients across the full asset lifecycle, delivering safe, efficient and innovative solutions that exceed expectations. You'll also have opportunities to work on first-of-a-kind technologies, future fuels and carbon capture projects, collaborating with developers, utilities, government bodies, EPC contractors & OEMs
What You'll Be Doing
Typical responsibilities include:
* Developing cost-effective, practical and innovative engineering solutions to complex pipeline challenges
* Working across feasibility studies, concept design, FEED, value engineering and detailed design
* Preparing pipeline and AGI deliverables, including wall thickness calculations and piping specifications
* Undertaking pipeline routing studies, population density assessments and high-pressure pipeline diversions
* Collaborating closely with other engineering disciplines to develop integrated designs
* Supporting the development of layouts and 3D models
* Leading and contributing to proposals, bids and multi-disciplinary project submissions
* Providing technical leadership and guidance across the pipeline and layout discipline
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
* A degree in a relevant engineering discipline
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards IEng/CEng) with a relevant professional institute
* Strong understanding of IGEM/TD/1, TD/13 and gas network operator addendums
* Experience leading the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables
* Knowledge of national and int'l codes and standards for plant equipment and piping design
* Experience in pipeline and AGI design, including routing and high-pressure systems
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to 3D plant models
* Strong understanding of the design process, scope development and engineering calculations
* Experience troubleshooting operational and integrity issues
* Proficiency with Autodesk tools including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks and BIM360
* Strong MS Office skills for producing technical reports, specifications, schedules and calculations
* Experience working with clients and contractors with diverse technical and commercial objectives
* Experience with ASME Engineering codes would be advantageous

About the Role
As a senior member of a multidisciplinary engineering group, you will lead the development of mechanical designs across a diverse portfolio of energy projects - from early-stage concept work through to construction, operation and eventual decommissioning.

*Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS)

What You'll Be Doing
*Developing cost-effective, practical mechanical engineering solutions to complex problems
*Working across all project stages: Feasibility, Concept, FEED, Value Engineering and Detailed Design
*Producing mechanical deliverables including calculations, equipment specifications and datasheets for turbines, compressors, pumps, pressure vessels and heat exchangers
*Collaborating with process engineers on PFDs and P&IDs
*Supporting plant layout development and 3D model reviews
*Working with equipment vendors and evaluating technical proposals
*Providing engineering advice on plant integrity issues for operational assets
*Contributing to mechanical discipline bids and wider multi-disciplinary proposals
What We're Looking For
*Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
*Chartered Engineer (or working towards IEng/CEng) with a relevant professional institute
*Post-graduate experience in Power Generation or Oil & Gas
*Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards for plant equipment and piping design
*Experience in pressure vessel and piping design, including stress analysis
*Familiarity with plant 3D modelling, working alongside designers and pipe stress engineers
*Proficiency in MS Excel for schedules/datasheets and MathCAD for engineering calculations
*Experience with operational thermal plant, troubleshooting and integrity assessments
*Knowledge of gas turbine systems reciprocating engine experience is an advantage
*Experience with OEMs, EPC contractors or similar organisations O&M experience highly desirable
