Electrical Design Manager - MEP Contractor
City of London | Full-Time Office Based | Up to £85k + Bonus + Travel

A growing MEP contractor is looking to appoint an Electrical Design Manager to support the delivery of complex building services projects across London and the South East.

The business delivers mechanical, electrical and public health solutions on projects across the commercial, residential, healthcare, education, hospitality and mixed-use sectors, working closely with developers, main contractors and end clients from pre-construction through to handover.

With a strong pipeline of work and an increasing number of design-and-build projects, they are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Manager to take ownership of the electrical design process and help drive successful project delivery.

The Opportunity
This role sits at the heart of project delivery, acting as the link between consultants, subcontractors, site teams and clients.

You'll be responsible for managing the electrical design process from tender stage through to construction, ensuring designs are coordinated, buildable, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of engineering but wants to be closer to project delivery and have a greater influence on project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage the electrical design process across multiple projects
* Review consultant designs and drive value engineering opportunities
* Coordinate design information between consultants, subcontractors and project teams
* Lead design workshops and technical meetings
* Ensure designs are buildable, coordinated and aligned with programme requirements
* Support pre-construction teams during tender and bid stages
* Manage RFIs, technical submissions and design approvals
* Work closely with project managers, commercial teams and site teams throughout delivery
* Identify and resolve design and coordination issues before they impact construction

About You
* Experience within an MEP contractor, specialist subcontractor or building services consultancy environment
* Strong understanding of electrical building services systems
* Experience coordinating and managing design on construction projects
* Good knowledge of design-and-build project delivery
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Commercial awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving

Desirable
* Previous experience in a Design Manager role
* Experience working on large-scale commercial, residential or mixed-use developments
* Knowledge of BIM and digital coordination processes
