About the Role:
As a Senior Design Project Manager, you'll be at the forefront of overseeing the technical design and delivery of major multi-disciplinary water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead, you'll be responsible for driving procurement, contract execution, and post-contract delivery, ensuring engineering excellence, regulatory compliance, and the highest standards of client satisfaction.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams (process, civil, mechanical, electrical, ICA, environmental) to deliver large-scale schemes, collaborating closely with stakeholders, delivery partners, and regulatory bodies. Your leadership will be key to shaping smarter, more resilient infrastructure, while ensuring the commercial success of the projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Delivery: Take ownership of wastewater non-infrastructure projects, from mobilisation to completion, ensuring commercial performance and client satisfaction.
Multi-Disciplinary Design Management: Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large-scale treatment, network, and resilience schemes.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with water company clients and regulatory stakeholders, ensuring that projects meet expectations, statutory requirements, and industry standards.
Integrated Delivery: Drive UK-based design teams to deliver integrated, efficient, and innovative solutions, fostering a collaborative and commercially aware working environment.
Governance & Assurance: Support robust governance across project scope, cost, schedule, risk, and quality, ensuring compliance and effective delivery.
Business Growth & Team Development: Contribute to the growth of the business and the development of the team, mentoring emerging design managers and engineers.

Leadership & Expertise: A proven leader with extensive experience delivering major non-infrastructure wastewater projects and solving complex engineering challenges.
Collaboration & Communication: Strong experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and working closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure project success.
Governance & Risk Management: Solid knowledge of project controls, risk management, and contract frameworks (e.g., NEC, JCT).
Technical Expertise: A relevant degree (e.g., Civil Engineering) and ideally chartered or professionally accredited (ICE, CIWEM, MIHT, or similar).
Client-Focused: A confident communicator who understands commercial drivers and can navigate complex stakeholder environments.

About the Role
Reporting to the Water Project Management Delivery Lead for the UK, your role as Senior Project Manager will involve delivering work with water companies or the Environment Agency in the Midlands area in consultancy roles. However, there will be opportunity for progression between UK water, environment, rail or nuclear sectors.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will have knowledge and experience in pre- and post-contract management in NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC form and procurement within the UK water, environment, rail or nuclear sector. The senior Project Manager will be expected to utilise their major project experience and knowledge to drive efficiencies and effective supply chain engagement and contract management.
As Senior Project Manager you will have experience working with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/ or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build major capital programmes.

Role Responsibilities:
General
* NEC3/4 Option A, Option C, Option E ECC Contract management and administration client side
* Budget control
* Collaborating with the QS on Payment valuations and certifying monthly payments under ECC and PSC forms of the NEC 4 form of contract
* Actual cost forecasting and Defined Cost determination in collaboration with the QS
* Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
* Ensure appropriate project management records and commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
* Investigate and draft contract communications and notices including Early Warning Notices, notification of Compensation Events, General Communications in line with best practice
Pre-Contract Activities
* Conduct initial project scope planning, cost estimates and feasibility studies
* Preparation of tender documentation
* Evaluation of tenders
* Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
* Collaborate with contractors early in he design phase
Post-Contract Activities
* Manage and administer construction contracts
* Monitor project expenditure and manage cash flow
* Lead the evaluation and negotiation of change orders or variations
* Claims and dispute resolution
* Final accounts and post-project evaluation
What do we need from you
* Bachelor's or master's Degree qualification in a numeric degree
* Full Membership of chartered body such APM at MAPM.
* A wealth of experience postgraduate in Rail, Nuclear, Water and/ or Environment.
* Line Management and recruitment experience of Project Mangers or Assistant Project Mangers.
* CDM regulation knowledge and experience.
* Risk management experience
* Valid CSCS card, with Water Hygiene Card desirable.
* Main contractor and/or joint venture experience working client side
* An experienced user of the NEC3-4 suite of contracts (A-C-E must have)
* You must have the right to work in the UK
* This role is subject to client interview and acceptance
* You will be required to be onsite at our client 4 days per week (Midlands)

Reporting into the UK Water Project Management Delivery Lead, you will lead the delivery of consultancy-based project management services on complex infrastructure schemes. The role offers exposure across the full project lifecycle, from early scoping and procurement through to construction delivery, contract administration, and final accounts.
