We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing MEP consultancy team in London.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion. You'll work closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative, practical and sustainable engineering solutions.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with excellent communication and a genuine passion for engineering.

You'll ideally have:

Significant experience in mechanical building services design within an MEP consultancy environment.A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.Strong knowledge of mechanical building services and current industry standards.Experience taking responsibility for projects and delivering them to programme and budget.Excellent communication and client-facing skills.Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers.Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery.Chartered status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous.

Working on a hybrid basis (4 days in the office, 1 day wfh), the successful candidate will join a practice known for delivering thoughtful, high-quality architecture across both new-build and retrofit residential schemes, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and technical excellence.

This role is ideally suited to an Architect who thrives in a project leadership capacity, someone comfortable taking ownership, managing complexity, and driving outcomes across design, technical delivery, and client engagement.

The Role
The Senior Project Architect will act as the key project lead across multiple schemes, overseeing all stages of delivery in line with the RIBA Plan of Work. They will be responsible for guiding projects from briefing and concept design through planning, technical development, procurement, and construction on site.

A strong focus will be placed on leadership, coordination, and delivery, including managing multidisciplinary consultant teams, maintaining program and quality control, and ensuring commercially aware decision-making throughout.

Key Responsibilities
Lead architectural projects independently from inception to completion
Act as primary client contact and manage stakeholder relationships
Coordinate and lead consultant teams including structural, MEP, planning and sustainability specialists
Oversee design development, technical delivery, and construction-stage coordination
Produce and manage project information within ArchiCAD
Chair and contribute to project meetings, driving clear decisions and actions
Ensure delivery against schedule, budget, and quality expectations

About You

This position requires a fully qualified ARB Registered Architect with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in residential development, including both new-build and retrofit schemes, alongside a strong understanding of UK planning, procurement, and construction processes.

A solid working knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work is essential, as is demonstrable experience leading projects across all stages independently.

There will be a few stages to this interview, from a phone call to in person interview, and applicants are requested to to submit details of 3-5 completed projects where they acted as Lead Project Architect. This can be shown in portfolio samples and ideally would include:
RIBA stages delivered
Team size managed (including sole practitioner roles if applicable)
Procurement route
Level of involvement with ArchiCAD on each project

Ideal BackgroundElectrical building services background.Experience as a Technical Services Manager, Electrical Manager, Building Services Manager, MEP Manager or Preconstruction Manager.Strong understanding of power, lighting, life-safety and infrastructure systems.Experience reviewing technical submissions and contractor proposals.Ability to identify design risks and technical compliance issues.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
