Senior Sustainability Consultant
Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid Working)
Salary: Up to £60,000 (dependant on experience)

An established, employee-owned consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join its growing sustainability team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced consultant who enjoys delivering high-quality environmental assessments, advising clients on sustainable design, and mentoring junior colleagues.
Working across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential and mixed-use developments, you'll lead sustainability assessments from concept through to completion while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to achieve ambitious environmental outcomes.

The Role
As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you'll manage your own portfolio of projects while acting as a trusted advisor to clients, design teams and internal stakeholders. You'll be responsible for delivering environmental certification projects, coordinating sustainability advice and helping to improve technical standards across the team.
Your workload will primarily include BREEAM and WELL assessments, with opportunities to contribute to wider sustainability services such as Net Zero Carbon strategies, ESG advice, planning support and sustainability workshops.
You'll also play an important role in supporting the development of junior consultants through mentoring, technical guidance and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead BREEAM, BREEAM International and WELL certification projects.
* Coordinate sustainability advice throughout the design and construction process.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships.
* Review technical submissions and ensure high-quality project delivery.
* Support business development activities, including fee proposals where appropriate.
* Mentor junior consultants and contribute to team development.
* Identify opportunities to improve processes and expand service offerings.

About You
We're looking for someone with a strong technical background in sustainability consultancy who enjoys taking ownership of projects and building lasting relationships with clients.
You'll be commercially aware, highly organised and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining excellent technical standards.

Essential Requirements
* Around six years' experience within sustainability consultancy or environmental assessment.
* Qualified BREEAM Assessor.
* Experience delivering BREEAM projects across a variety of building types.
* Knowledge of environmental assessment methodologies including BREEAM, LEED, Fitwel or similar.
* Experience coordinating sustainability advice across multidisciplinary project teams.
* Previous experience mentoring or supervising colleagues.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong understanding of the UK construction and design process.

Desirable Experience
* WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP).
* Chartered Environmentalist status.
* BREEAM Advisory Professional.
* LEED AP, HQM Assessor or Fitwel Ambassador qualifications.
* Knowledge of the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard.
* Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) or Whole Life Carbon experience.
* Circular Economy Strategies.
* ESG or sustainability strategy development.
* Bid writing and fee proposal preparation.
* Workshop facilitation.

What's on Offer
This is an opportunity to join a respected consultancy with an outstanding reputation for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions across the built environment.

You'll benefit from:
* Competitive salary with discretionary bonus.
* Flexible and hybrid working.
* Structured career progression.
* Professional memberships and training support.
* Opportunities to work on complex, high-profile projects.
* Collaborative, inclusive working culture.
* Enhanced annual leave.
* Pension scheme.
* Enhanced family-friendly and wellbeing benefits.
