Lead Electrical Engineer - Ireland Relocation Opportunity

For South African-based Electrical Engineers

An established international building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Lead Electrical Engineer for its growing Ireland team.

This is a relocation opportunity for candidates currently based in South Africa who are looking to move into the Irish market and work on high-quality, technically challenging building services projects.

The role would suit a strong electrical design engineer who enjoys being close to the detail. This is not a purely strategic or hands-off leadership position. You will be expected to lead the electrical design delivery, attend site, chair design meetings, coordinate with clients and project teams, and take ownership of technical outputs.

The role

You will act as the electrical lead across a range of projects, including high-end hotels, commercial developments and some data centre work. The position will involve managing the electrical design process from concept through to delivery, while working closely with mechanical, sustainability and wider project teams.

You will be responsible for:

Leading electrical design delivery on major building services projects
Producing and reviewing detailed electrical designs, calculations and specifications
Chairing design meetings with clients, architects, contractors and internal teams
Attending site meetings and providing technical input throughout construction stages
Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant and commercially sound
Mentoring junior engineers where required, while remaining hands-on with design work
Acting as the main electrical point of contact on selected projects
Project types

Typical projects include:

Luxury and high-end hotel developments
Commercial offices and mixed-use schemes
Technical building services environments
Selected data centre projects
What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will be a technically strong Electrical Engineer with solid building services design experience. You should be confident leading design packages, dealing with clients and contractors, and representing the electrical discipline in project meetings.

You will likely have:

Strong electrical building services design experience
Experience leading electrical packages on medium to large-scale projects
Good knowledge of LV distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarms, containment and coordination
Experience attending site and chairing or contributing to technical design meetings
Consultancy-side experience would be highly beneficial
Exposure to hotels, commercial or data centre projects would be advantageous
Strong communication skills and the confidence to lead from a technical perspective
