Pre-Contract Manager

Location: Central London

Our client is one of London's leading workplace design and build specialists, renowned for creating innovative, people-centric environments for some of the UK's most recognised brands. With a reputation built on exceptional client service, creativity, and delivery excellence, they continue to shape some of the most exciting workplace projects across the capital.

As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Pre-Contract Manager to join their high-performing team.

The Opportunity

This is a key leadership role within the pre-construction function, responsible for managing opportunities from initial enquiry through to contract award and operational handover.

Working collaboratively with Business Development, Design, Commercial and Construction teams, you will ensure projects are strategically planned, commercially robust and positioned for successful delivery.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in winning work, building client confidence, and maintaining the exceptional standards that have become synonymous with the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the pre-contract process across multiple workplace fit-out and refurbishment projects.Manage tender submissions, cost planning, budgeting and value engineering exercises.Develop detailed project programmes, procurement strategies and delivery methodologies.Coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality bid submissions.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.Identify, assess and mitigate project risks during the pre-construction phase.Present proposals and support client meetings as a trusted advisor.Ensure seamless project handover to operational and delivery teams.Drive continuous improvement within pre-construction processes and procedures.

About You

Proven experience in a Pre-Construction Manager, Pre-Contract Manager, Estimating Manager or similar role.Strong background within Design & Build, Commercial Fit-Out or Construction environments.Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts.Experience managing multiple tenders and projects simultaneously.Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.Strategic thinker with a solutions-focused approach.Passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences.

A leading commercial office fit‑out contractor is looking to appoint a Pre‑Construction professional who is ambitious, technically strong and keen to broaden their exposure beyond traditional building services contracting. They are open for a M&E‑biased Estimator / commercial fit out Preconstruction Manager.

This opportunity is ideal for an intelligent M&E Estimator who wants to move into a full design & build fit‑out environment, with clear long‑term progression toward senior pre‑construction leadership .

The Role

You will join the pre‑construction team and play a key role in tendering and early project stages, with particular ownership from an M&E and technical services perspective, while being fully exposed to the wider fit‑out scope.

Responsibilities include:

Preparing and supporting commercial fit‑out tendersWorking closely with design, commercial and leadership teams to develop fully coordinated D&B solutionsReviewing M&E designs for buildability, compliance, value engineering and cost certaintyEngaging with M&E subcontractors and suppliers to secure accurate and competitive pricingSupporting cost plans, tender submissions and pre‑construction documentationContributing to client meetings, tender interviews and pitchesSupporting risk reviews, adjudications and handovers to delivery teamsDeveloping strong knowledge of fit‑out contracts, procurement routes and programme constraintsAbout YouBackground as an M&E Estimator / Pre‑Construction Engineer / Commercial M&E professionalExperience gained within building services, M&E or technically led contracting environmentsBright, switched‑on and commercially aware, with strong communication skillsComfortable in client‑facing environments and confident contributing to presentations and bidsAmbitious, eager to learn and keen to progress into senior pre‑construction / technical rolesLooking for long‑term career development rather than a purely transactional estimating roleWhat's On OfferSalary up to £95,000 for the right individualClear progression pathway toward Pre‑Construction ManagerExposure to high‑quality, design‑led commercial fit‑out schemesMentoring and development from an established senior teamOpportunity to move away from traditional M&E silos into a broader D&B leadership role
