The Opportunity

Join our international and multidisciplinary team of passionate design engineers and help us create high-quality, sustainable, and innovative data centre structures. You will work on medium to large-scale mission-critical projects, covering all stages of design - from concept to construction supervision and handover.


As a Senior Mechanical Engineer your role will be as part of an interdisciplinary team lead the design of mechanical systems (Building servies and cooling) on medium to large-scale Mission Critical projects through all design stages from Concept to Construction Supervision and Hand-Over
Lead the preparation and review of design deliverables
Lead projects and work closely with our data center clients to deliver quality work to meet their specific needs
Present technical content for review by technical and non-technical audiences. Have a good grasp over trends and standard methodologies in the industry
Coordinate with other internal and external project stakeholders including other disciplines, authorities, public service providers and international clients
Connect solutions/ideas to bigger picture project and client goals
Deliver timely feedback and recognition to others
Mentor and supervise junior staff and collaborate with skilful multi-disciplinary teams maximising our experience at the local, regional, and global level

About you

We are looking for someone passionate about sustainable data centre design and who possesses:

University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Five plus years' experience designing mission-critical mechanical systems- experience with data centres is considered a plus.
Strong background in industrial cooling/HVAC systems-
Experience with Revit MEP / BIM

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services - 20% Bonus

About Our Client:

Our client is a growing Building Services Engineering Consultancy located in the bustling streets of Central London. Established in 2020, They have quickly become a 10 strong team, delivering exceptional work through strong client relationships within the commercial space.
They are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the design team. You will lead on two specific projects. One will be the creation of a new nightclub in a 1930's theatre. The other will be a fulfilment centre within a large industrial unit for a very well known sports brands.

Besides these two specific projects the business is know for commercial office real estate and restaurants/bars. Collaborating with a small and dynamic team of design engineers, electrical engineers, and a BIM team, you will play a key role in supporting and leading MEP projects from a mechanical perspective.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include leading feasibility and concept design stages through to RIBA Stages 3, 4, 5 & 6, working closely with architects, design teams, project managers, and clients. You will oversee the production of mechanical design schematics, designs, calculations, tender issue drawings, and technical schedules. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of our mechanical design standards and AutoCAD/BIM templates.

To excel in this role, you should have at least 5+ years of experience as a senior mechanical engineer and have a strong track record of project delivery, working on projects from initial concept through to design completion and hand over. As part of our team, you will also be involved in mechanical surveys, energy and carbon analysis, consultancy, and troubleshooting. You will collaborate with clients and design teams to deliver energy-efficient, low carbon designs that meet regulations and best practices. Moreover, you will work on mechanical plant replacement projects, covering heating, ventilation, air conditioning, hot and cold water systems, above-ground drainage, controls, and more.

In return, The business offer a highly competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £75,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, you will receive an annual performance bonus of up to 20%, with spot bonuses available. They provide 28 days of annual leave per year (exclusive of statutory holidays) and offer a company pension scheme and a cycle to work scheme. They also foster a flexible working culture, allowing you to achieve a healthy work-life balance.
