Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer

A growing engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join its Building Services team.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established team delivering innovative and sustainable building services solutions.

You'll be involved in projects from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver high-quality electrical engineering solutions across a broad range of sectors.

For those operating at Principal level, the role offers additional responsibility around project leadership, client management, business development and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services systems across a variety of projectsDesign power, lighting, small power, fire alarm, security and communications systemsProduce and review calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentationCoordinate with mechanical, sustainability and structural teams to deliver integrated design solutionsAttend client, contractor and design team meetingsUndertake site visits and provide technical support during constructionManage project programmes, resources and deliverablesMentor and support junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the team

About You

Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)Experience working within a building services consultancy environmentStrong technical knowledge of electrical building services designProficiency with industry-standard design softwareGood understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standardsStrong communication and client-facing skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and stakeholders

Desirable

Chartered Engineer status or working towards ChartershipExperience leading multidisciplinary projectsKnowledge of low-carbon and sustainable building design principlesExperience supporting bids, proposals or client development activities
