Senior / Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

A growing engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Building Services team.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established team delivering innovative and sustainable building services solutions.

You'll be involved in projects from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver high-quality, low-carbon engineering solutions.

For those operating at Principal level, the role offers additional responsibility around project leadership, client management and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems across a range of projectsDevelop innovative and energy-efficient HVAC, heating, cooling and public health solutionsProduce and review design calculations, specifications and technical reportsCoordinate with electrical, sustainability and structural teams to deliver integrated design solutionsAttend client, contractor and design team meetingsUndertake site visits and provide technical support during constructionManage project programmes, resources and deliverablesMentor and support junior engineers

About You

Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)Experience working within a building services consultancy environmentStrong knowledge of HVAC, heating, cooling and building services designProficiency with industry-standard design softwareGood understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidanceStrong communication and client-facing skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and stakeholders

Desirable

Chartered Engineer status or working towards ChartershipExperience leading multidisciplinary projectsKnowledge of sustainable and low-carbon building design principles
