We are looking for an ambitious Associate Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join a growing London-based MEP consultancy.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical or Electrical building services engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in delivering projects, developing people and building strong client relationships.
The consultancy works across a diverse range of sectors, including residential, education, commercial, industrial and warehouse/distribution projects.

The Role
As an Associate Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, you will be a senior member of the project team, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of projects while supporting and developing engineers around you.
You will work closely with Directors, Operations Directors, clients, architects and other members of the design team, helping to deliver technically excellent solutions from project inception through to completion.
The role offers significant scope for progression, with the opportunity to develop into a future Director or business leader as your experience and contribution to the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of Mechanical or Electrical engineering design across a range of projects.Take technical responsibility for projects from concept through to completion.Manage and mentor junior and intermediate engineers, helping them develop their technical and professional careers.Coordinate engineering designs with architects, structural engineers, contractors and other consultants.Attend client and design team meetings and act as a senior technical representative.Develop strong and lasting relationships with clients and project teams.Review drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports.Ensure projects are delivered to the required technical, programme and quality standards.Provide technical guidance and support to project engineers.Assist with resource planning and project team management.Contribute to fee proposals, tenders and bids.Identify opportunities for additional work and support the development of existing client relationships.Support Directors and senior management with business development activities.Contribute to improving internal processes, technical standards and ways of working.Help promote the company's reputation for technical excellence and high-quality client service.The variety of projects means you will have the opportunity to broaden your experience while working on technically challenging and interesting schemes.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced engineer who is ready to step into an Associate-level position and take on greater responsibility.
You can come from either a Mechanical or Electrical engineering background. We are more interested in your technical ability, leadership potential, commercial awareness and attitude than simply your job title.
Ideally, you will have:
Strong experience within building services / MEP consultancy.A Mechanical or Electrical engineering background.Experience delivering building services projects from concept through to completion.Good technical knowledge and a strong understanding of engineering design.Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams.The confidence to communicate with clients and other senior stakeholders.Experience mentoring or managing junior engineers.Good commercial awareness.An interest in business development and developing client relationships.The ambition to progress into a senior leadership position.Chartered status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous, but is not essential.

The Role
Working closely with the Directors, Engineers, and BIM team, you will lead MEP projects through RIBA Stages 1-6, ensuring successful technical delivery, commercial performance, and client satisfaction.
This is a leadership role offering the opportunity to manage projects, strengthen client relationships, mentor engineers, contribute to business development, and progress towards Director level.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical design projects across a range of commercial and mixed-use
developments.
* Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, architects, and project
stakeholders.
* Manage project delivery, ensuring quality, programme, and commercial targets are
achieved.
* Oversee surveys, reports, specifications, calculations, and technical designs.
* Coordinate mechanical designs, drawings, BIM models, and technical submissions.
* Undertake site inspections, commissioning reviews, and provide technical support
throughout project delivery.
* Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM requirements, sustainability
targets, and industry best practice.
* Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development.
* Assist with fee proposals, business development activities, and recruitment.
About You
* 10+ years experience within Building Services Mechanical Design.
* Degree qualified and ideally a member of CIBSE, IMechE, or a similar professional
body.
* Experience delivering refurbishment, fit-out, and commercial projects.
* Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, IES VE, Hevacomp, H2X, Bluebeam Revu, and
Microsoft Office.
* Strong communication, report writing, and client-facing skills.
* Commercially aware with an interest in business development and team leadership.
