We are partnering with one of Ireland's largest MEP consultancies, with approximately 90% of their workload focused on Data Centre projects across Europe.

They are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their team on a 6-month freelance contract, working remotely from South Africa.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major hyperscale and mission-critical Data Centre projects, while gaining international project exposure without needing to relocate.

The Opportunity

As a Freelance Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the design and delivery of large-scale Data Centre projects, working alongside international multidisciplinary teams.

You'll contribute to technically complex projects where resilience, reliability and high-quality electrical design are essential.

There may also be opportunities for occasional international travel for client meetings, workshops and site visits.

What Were Looking For

* Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
* Proven Data Centre / Mission Critical experience - essential
* Strong Building Services consultancy background
* Extensive electrical design experience
* Experience with power distribution, lighting, UPS, generators, standby power and earthing
* Experience delivering large-scale Data Centre projects
* Strong understanding of resilience and redundancy
* Ability to work effectively within international multidisciplinary teams
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Highly Desirable

* Hyperscale Data Centre experience
* International project experience
* High-voltage / high-power systems experience

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of large-scale, technically complex Data Centre projects, working across the project lifecycle from concept and detailed design through to completion.

You'll work as part of multidisciplinary teams, collaborate directly with international clients and contribute to the delivery of highly resilient infrastructure where reliability, performance and precision are critical.

What Were Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with proven Data Centre or Mission Critical experience who is comfortable working on large-scale, technically demanding projects.

You should have:

* A degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
* Proven experience working on Data Centre / Mission Critical projects
* Strong Building Services consultancy experience
* Experience delivering electrical design for large-scale Data Centre developments
* Strong technical knowledge across power distribution, lighting, UPS, generators, standby power and earthing systems
* Experience working across multiple project stages, from concept through to detailed design and delivery
* Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* The ability to work effectively with international clients and project teams

## Highly Desirable

* Experience working on hyperscale Data Centre projects
* Previous experience working with international Data Centre clients
* Chartered Engineer status or currently working towards chartership
* PrEng or PrTech registration in South Africa
* Experience with high-voltage / high-power electrical systems
* Experience working on technically complex, resilience-focused mission-critical infrastructure

Freelance Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Remote (South Africa)

We are partnering with a UK-based Data Centre specialist consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of hyperscale data centre projects on a freelance basis.

Requirements:
* Strong electrical building services design experience
* Proven experience on hyperscale data centres
* Experience with critical power infrastructure, including UPS systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, and associated electrical systems, is essential
* Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality design documentation remotely

Candidates must have their own licensed software, including:
* Microsoft Office Suite
* Autodesk Revit Suite (Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection)
