  • We are working on behalf of our client, a major UK civils contractor, to appoint an experienced Estimator to support the growth of a strong and long‑term highways pipeline.
  • Based from offices in North London, with projects delivered across London and the Midlands, this role offers genuine flexibility - candidates can work from home, the North London office, or project offices depending on location and preference.
  • This opportunity would suit an Estimator with experience across highways, surfacing, civils, or infrastructure, who enjoys being closely involved in tendering, commercial decision‑making, and building long‑term client relationships.


The Role
Working closely with the Commercial and Project Teams, you will play a key role in pricing work, managing tenders, and supporting the successful award of new contracts.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the end‑to‑end tendering process, ensuring bids are compliant, competitive, and submitted on time
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand scope, risk, and opportunity
  • Producing accurate quantity take‑offs and cost estimates covering labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities within tenders and escalating key issues where appropriate
  • Supporting bid reviews and tender settlements with the wider project team
  • Managing post‑submission clarifications and client queries professionally
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of estimating processes and cost data



About You
Essential:

  • Proven estimating experience within highways, surfacing, civils, or infrastructure
  • Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical information
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and internal teams
  • Proficient in estimating software and Excel


Desirable:

  • HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
  • Experience working with NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
  • Exposure to bid strategy, value engineering, and pre‑bid meetings
