We're working with one of the top names in consulting engineering to find them their next principal fire engineer.
If successful, you'll be joining one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary consultancies, widely recognised for supporting complex and high profile developments across the built environment. With a strong national footprint and a growing international presence, the business is known for enabling ambitious architectural design while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and technical rigour.
As a Principal Fire Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering fire engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. These typically range high‑rise residential and mixed‑use schemes to public sector buildings and high-tech labs, alongside a steady stream of international work. Your focus will be on ensuring fire safety is embedded into design from concept through delivery, without constraining innovation.
The role involves reviewing and developing design information, collaborating closely with other disciplines such as façades, MEP and structures, and presenting fire strategies to local authorities and the Fire Service. You'll also act as a technical advisor to the wider design team, helping to shape solutions and identify opportunities to enhance building safety and performance.
To be successful in the role, you'll have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire Engineering or a related discipline, along with experience within a fire engineering consultancy environment. You'll be comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously, engaging with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and contributing at a senior level within project teams.
