Senior Retrofit Designer / Assessor
Oxford | Hybrid Working | 9 Day Fortnight | Up to £65k

A growing sustainability consultancy is looking to hire a Senior Retrofit Designer / Assessor to join its Oxford-based team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who can lead retrofit projects end-to-end, combining hands-on site work with technical design, modelling and client engagement.

The Opportunity
This is a highly varied, project-led role with a strong balance between site-based assessment and technical delivery.

Around 30% of your time will be spent on-site, carrying out fabric surveys and air tightness testing across residential, education and commercial buildings throughout London and Oxfordshire (with travel fully covered).

The remaining 70% will focus on leading retrofit design and analysis, where you'll:

  • Develop and own retrofit strategies
  • Deliver building performance modelling
  • Lead client and design team workshops
  • Oversee project delivery from initial survey through to final recommendations

This role is ideal for someone who wants to take full ownership of projects, while still staying close to the technical detail.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading retrofit projects from survey through to design and delivery
  • Carrying out and overseeing fabric condition surveys
  • Undertaking and interpreting air tightness testing
  • Developing practical, buildable retrofit strategies
  • Delivering modelling using IES-VE and PHPP
  • Leading client meetings, workshops and design discussions
  • Producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports
  • Mentoring junior team members where appropriate

What They're Looking For

  • Strong experience in retrofit, building performance or sustainability consultancy
  • Proven ability to lead projects and deliver work independently
  • Solid understanding of building fabric, construction and retrofit solutions
  • Experience carrying out site surveys and building assessments
  • Familiarity with air tightness testing
  • Experience using IES-VE and/or PHPP
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Full UK driving licence (or ability to travel to sites)

Why Apply?

  • Lead and deliver end-to-end retrofit projects
  • A unique mix of site work and technical modelling
  • Work on impactful projects improving existing building performance
  • Travel costs covered for site visits
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Clear pathway for career progression and leadership

If you're an experienced Retrofit professional looking for a role where you can lead projects, influence real-world outcomes and stay hands-on technically, this is a strong opportunity to step into a senior position with real ownership.

Whether you're working in the larger corporate companies or a small SME this is certainly one to take note of. Please don't hesitate to apply or get in touch for further info on the email below, we can arrange a confidential conversation anytime to suit you.
